Can only play songs after switching default sound device in Windows

Can only play songs after switching default sound device in Windows

Running Windows 10 64 bit,

Every time I reboot my PC, if I try to play a song I will either get the message "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it." If I try to play a playlist, it just flips through all the songs on the playlist quickly without actually making sound. I can resolve this issue by switching the default output device in windows, then playing the song, then switching back to my normal/actual output device. It's playable but a nuisance to do this every reboot.

Have tried reinstalling Spotify, and reinstalling my audio card drivers (Asus Xonar DX). Can't seem to find a solution.
