I made some screenshot for the staffs who are not aware of current Spotify quality these days.
I tested with a 96Khz audio interface.
This is Desktop App as of now. just plain old 320Kbps MP3
The smartphone app is even worse 20Khz/20Khz
The 3rd one when Vorbis used to pull 48Khz hi-fi.
You guys are removing two main features.
1 is the sound quality
2 is the curators.
how about announce this issue and charge more money?
i just deleted the app. i will keep the subscription tho. but i need another hi-fi service for now until this issue fixed. i will be back. good luck.
Hi there,
can you explain what exactly we're looking at?
As with all web based services, audio and video are going to be compressed following that services guidelines. Furthermore, it also depends on the quality (type of mastering) the artist in question is delivering.
Nowadays, lots of artists tend to boost their master way too much - so the service's compression is going to counter that to normalize the music so that everything sounds pretty much the same. This of course is going to 'degrade' the original audio 'somewhat'.
I believe Spotify have a mastering guideline to adhere to - this would be the perfect delivery of master files to the service with the least amount of compression.
That's my understanding of it anyway.
