My Question or Issue

Everytime a song ends I get the error "can't play the current song." I need to constantly hit the 'next' button to play songs. Same issue on all playlists. Previously published "fixes" don't work.

Hey @anotheraudioguy

It sounds a bit like an audio driver issue, but let's try a clean reinstall first to rule out client-side errors 🙂

1. Close Spotify and uninstall it.
2. Go to %AppData% in Windows Explorer, and delete any Spotify folders you find in Local and Roaming folders.
3. Restart your computer.

4. Install Spotify.

Note: if you run a Windows Store installation, chances are there is nothing in Appdata. Try resetting the app's data as described here (the Windows Club), and reinstall following the steps in this article.

If the issue persists, try turning off Hardware Acceleration by going to Spotify, clicking the menu dots - View - Hardware acceleration. This will restart Spotify.

Also, make sure your preferred audio device is set as Default in Windows:

1. Right-click the speaker icon on taskbar and select Playback Devices.
2. Highlight the preferred device and set is as Default. Default devices have green checkmark.

Let me know how it goes 🙂
