Change date added/preserve date added when adding to library

I like to organize my music by date added and sometimes a song gets deleted by mistake or removed for other reasons and then gets decided to be brought back. Therefore an alternative to change the 'date added' would be much appreciated with helping in this. And also the option to preserve the 'date added' when adding a song from ones playlist into ones library.
