Clarification on the new 'usernames'

Got a question here, so my friend just signed up for a new Spotify account, but her username is just a bunch of random letters and numbers. Now I know that you changed usernames so user would get randomly generated usernames, but I'd like if you could clarify something for me here please:

If she changes her username here

Will that username appear as her username on the friend activity sidebar, as the username on her playlists etc. instead of that randomly generated username, or is that username displayed only in the community section?

If it's the random username showing then the problem is that I wouldn't be able to recognize who she actually is, plus those usernames are definitely ugly to begin with. Also is there any way to change that then, instead of linking your account to facebook?

If only the random username is displayed in the desktop app and the mobile app, how are we gonna recognize our 'friends' then?

Hello flepi42! Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Unfortunately, the Spotify Community profile does not alter in any way how your username is seen in the app/client. Also, there is no way to change or alter your username 😞

Although, if she does decide to link her Facebook account, you'd be able to see her by her real name instead of the username 😄

For the last question, unfortunately I must recognize I don't have an answer for it. Usually now these days people tend to link Facebook so that way I am recognizing my friends.

The random username is just a way to keep in track of user data on Spotify, so you won't have to worry that much about it 🙂

Also, the real username will appear to others instead of the random username when you use Spotify. You can connect Facebook with Spotify if you want to make your Facebook username appear.
