My Question or Issue

Spotify takes at least 5 or more minutes to launch when clicked, and attempting to play music or search is almost impossible. I have clicked the play button multiple times, and it will take 5+ minutes to load, with most of the time it ends with no music playing. When checking task manager, Spotify is using a high amount of power yet barely functioning. Even once music begins to play, it tends to randomly stop or have very long blank spaces between songs. I have also had the app close without me realizing, and with no report of it crashing. I have tried reinstalling the Spotify desktop app twice, and it has not fixed the issue.

Hey there @Japhan5,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We understand you've already tried reinstalling the app on your device, but we'd like you to perform, if you haven't yet, a clean (more thorough) reinstall of the Spotify app. You can find out the steps to do it here.

If issues persist, as a next step, would you mind trying to run the app in Safe Mode to rule out any issues with your default Windows settings and basic device drivers? Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Additionally, we’d like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • The exact Spotify version you’re running there.
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?

Keep us in the loop!

I had already tried a clean reinstall, but I just did it again and reinstalled from the Spotify website instead of the Microsoft Store, and it seems to be working correctly now. Here is the Spotify version: Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.78.418.gaeeb5ebd

I'm not sure if it occurred after a specific event

Thank you!
