My Question or Issue
1. How do I make Spotify stop automatically playing when I connect my bluetooth speakers? Note, I've disabled every autoplay function, even though Autoplay does a different thing in this app apparently.
2. The fact that there isn't a specific option for this is terrible. I have been a loyal Spotify advocate since they were torrenting mp3's and then renaming the extension, when songs were only available if someone was online with it, and it gets worse all the time without adding any benefits
.
I'm tired of fighting with my music player. There are WAY too many alternatives out there, that actually have lossless as well, for anyone to have to deal with this..
Hey @user-removed,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community!
Just to confirm, does this only happen with a specific device, or with all devices that you use Spotify on? It would be great if you could let us know the make/model and OS version of your device(s), along with the Spotify version.
Adding to this, please include the Bluetooth device this behaviour is occurring on, alongside the exact steps you're taking when this is happening from your end. This will help us try to recreate what you're experiencing, so that we can have a closer look into this as well 🙂
We'll keep an eye out for your reply!
I've seen help for this on different posts, but nothing for my device. I am on a windows 10 laptop, and whenever I connect my Bluetooth headphones to my laptop from another device, Spotify automatically starts playing music. It's really annoying because it often automatically disconnects from whatever device I was on before since it detects sound from my laptop, and I need to figure out if there's a way to disable this from happening.
Hey @MidnightBarber.
Thanks for reaching out!
Please take a look at the reply from @Maria and let us know the requested details 🙂
As a possible workaround to ease the pain in the meantime, you can try making sure the music is paused before you close the app.
If all goes well this will prevent the music from playing the next time your BT device connects.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply!
Hi! Here's the information that I can answer:
I believe it is every device, although I am unsure as I mostly use my headphones on my computer. If you're talking about computer/phone, it only happens with my computer, my (iphone) is functioning normally.
My laptop is HP Pavillion Aero Laptop (version 22H2) and my spotify version is Spotify for Windows (64 bit) 1.2.43.420.gc7b23f70
I am using Powerlocus headphones, the exact ones are at https://a.co/d/j6IW571 (cheap brand, it may be that but I doubt it as it seems others have the same issue)
My headphones have a feature that, while using them for bluetooth, they can automatically interchange between two devices for audio depending on which one is making noise. For this to happen, my headphones must be connected to two devices, and my device must be active, even if it is shut, and it will begin playing music and disconnect from the previous device, and begin playing music from my laptop. This also happens if I am wanting to listen to the audio from my laptop while I was originally listening from my phone, and when it automatically connects to my laptop spotify will begin playing music as well. This only happens if the application is open, which it oftentimes is in my case, and only happens when I am playing music on my phone and it automatically connects to my laptop.
Please inform me if I've left out information needed, I'm not the most well-informed on how my computer works haha
Thank you!
Hey there @MidnightBarber,
Thanks for the reply and for the additional info!
As this seems to only happen after opening your PC, and you're already using the Spotify app on your phone at that moment, it is most likely related to the Connect feature & Bluetooth settings. With certain setups, it's expected that the app automatically opens when connected to specific devices. While it's not possible to switch off the Connect feature, we appreciate you taking the time to raise this with us, as we always work on improving the app and add new functions.
Should anything else appear, we're just a post away!
That reply is worthless. Just make a button that prevenst Spotify automatically starting when I plug in my headphones. Headphone model, bluetooth settings, OS, phone model et should not be an issue. Unbelievable.
I'm pretty sure I have the same issue, using JBL LIVE PRO 2, on my ASUS laptop. I listen to a lot of things on YouTube, When I take 1 of my earbuds out, and back in, Spotify starts playing. It's getting really annoying to constantly have to pause it every time I take my earbuds out. Just make it so you can disable the "auto wake" feature for Bluetooth please.
