My Question or Issue

So it literally started a few hours ago. I was on a website who allows you to show embeds of Spotify so you can look at a 30-second long piece of music. However there seems to be a fault in a new update. The embed shows up but you can't press on the play-button not even the logo of Spotify will take you to Spotify's website anymore.  I later on saw that this update also freaked up with Discord since all embeds of Spotify are marked as "not available in your country" sort of...

I have no idea whats causing this and how to get it back to work. It happend in total on 4 differend websites by now and I'm not sure why this new update is not functioning. It's really just the embeds tho. If I have the songs on Spotify it works, but not when let's say a friend would send you a embed of a Spotify-link on a website

I hope someone of the developers or whoever made the update sees this and can fix it since I bet I'm not the only one who has that same issue

This issue has come back again. Had it with Discord Recently. I just made a post about it else where.

I have this problem - embeds don't work in Safari on Mac or on iPhone. Click and it says "This video is unavailable" with a link to watch on the website - and the link doesn't work either. Sample page https://www.morganash.com/updates/vulnerable-customers-podcast/what-is-a-vulnerability

Hey @labrowp,

Thanks for reaching out!

I'm able to preview the video on my end with Chrome and Firefox. Have you tried other browsers to see if that does the trick for you? This could also be caused by an extension, so check if disabling all extensions temporarily allows the embed to load properly,

Cheers 🤘

It's an issue which only seems to affect Safari but it is present on desktop, mobile and tablet. But it is a consistent problem with Safari. While Safari doesn't have the same usage as Chrome, it is still significant - especially mobile. It is only a problem with video embeds, audio works fine. Using other browsers isn't an answer - we can't tell people using iPhones to download a new browser.

Hey there @labrowp,

Thanks for all additional info - we appreciate it!

While we can't give you specific time-frame for if or when this will be fixed, we've passed the details you provided us with onto our tech folks, so that they can have a look as well. In the meantime, we recommend using other browsers (if possible) and to keep the Spotify app up-to-date, as well as the Safari browser.

Should anything else appear, we're just a post away.

Cheers!

Thanks but the advice "using other browsers (if possible) and to keep the Spotify app up-to-date, as well as the Safari browser" isn't helpful I'm afraid. This is on a corporate website and it's those users it affects. We can't very well tell every iPhone, iPad and Mac user to change browsers.
