Hi @cxristinx,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community and welcome.

Just to confirm, do your friends have the option "Share my listening activity on Spotify" toggled on?

You and they can check this in the app by heading to Settings > Social > Share my listening activity on Spotify.

Keep in mind that if you/they don't have this option enabled, the activity won't be displayed for each other.

Lastly, we suggest checking the app permissions to prevent any conflicts. You can check this link (from your Spotify account) and this other link to make sure Spotify has permissions enabled on your Facebook account only if it's linked to it (your friends should check this too).

Let us know how it goes.

Hi, apologies for hijacking the thread but it was impossible to find the Submit help request button anywhere.

I have a similar issue - first not being able to see any friends on my list even after being connected to Facebook; I resolved this by resetting Spotify password. Now, I have all of 202 friends connected on Facebook, which is not at all accurate , and also a few friends I specifically know to be on Facebook and Spotify (and who are already sharing listening activity) were not listed as options on my Add Friend list. I have tried toggling everything on/off/resetting/logging out of all devices etc but still haven't been able to resolve this. Please help.

Hey @ooleebs1,

Thanks for your reply in this thread and welcome.

Just to confirm, did you mean that couldn't create a new thread to ask about this? If yes, no worries. When you want to post in the Community, you just have to click on the top-right menu button with the 3 lines. Then, you must click on the board you want to post to (e.g. Help). A list of all available boards will pop up. From there you have to choose the one that fits your inconvenience. Lastly, you have to select Start a Topic button 🙂 Either case, it's always a good idea to reply on a board related to your question.

On another note, at Spotify, we're always working to enhance our users' experience. We recently updated the Friend Activity default to private so that users have greater control over how their listening activity is shared with others on Spotify. Users that want to make their listening activity public, can turn sharing on in the Settings menu.

So in this case, you have to take into the account the following:

  • Make sure you're following users in the app, not just artists. Even if your account is connected to Facebook, you have to make sure you're following the users you want to see their listening activity.
  • The users you follow must have enabled permissions to share their listening activity under settings from their own accounts.
  • The users you follow must have listened to a track for at least 30 secs within the last week.
  • You have enabled permissions to share your listening activity under settings.

We understand you follow some troubleshooting (kudos for that!). Take into account Friend Activity might not update in real time. You can read more about it here and, If the inconvenience persists, you can follow the basic troubleshooting there.

We hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you need anything else.

Hello AlejaR! Thanks for your response!

Unfortunately, I have tried all of the steps you suggested, including clearing cache, logging out/in of all devices, disconnecting/connecting Facebook / Spotify on respective platforms, uninstalling and installing desktop and mobile apps... I am still unable to see all of my friends who are on Spotify and have their listening activities made public.

A note to make- I realised that even with access given to Spotify on the Facebook app, I don't see Spotify giving access to Facebook in Account settings. Please see attached. Perhaps this points to something that I am missing?

Hey @ooleebs1,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

We appreciate the time you took following the troubleshooting you mentioned, and sharing it with us. Just to be on the same page, since you mentioned that you've followed the steps previously mentioned by @AlejaR, would you mind confirming if you already ask those friends if they have the option "Listening activity" toggled on as well?

About your other question, in the Apps section, Facebook is usually not listed because the toggle to process Facebook data is located under the Privacy settings on the left side menu of your account page. Make sure it's toggled on, but if not, activate it, close the app to force the sync and try again.

Let us know how it goes.

Hello Oscar!

Thanks for replying. To answer your question, yes indeed, I have for example one particular friend on Facebook with Spotify connected, and who already is able to view listening activities of others. They are not listed in my list of names when I try to "Find friends" to follow.

Regarding the toggle on of data in privacy settings, yes, it has already been done.

Hey @ooleebs1,

Thanks for your reply.

It looks like we've already been helping you in this thread. Let's keep the conversation there to avoid any mix-ups.

Cheers!

Hi, just checking in to see if there might be some updates to follow up on. There were no solutions given in the other open thread of the same topic, and seems it's not an isolated problem on Spotify. Thanks.
