My Question or Issue

The queueis my biggest bone of contention with Spotify.  It just doesn't work the way I expect.

The issue I have today is how to clear it.  As stated above, this is Windows with the desktop application.  Hunting through the forum and wider internet, there is mention of a "Clear" option.  I have no such button.  The only way I have managed to clear the queue is to slect all, scroll to the bottom, press delete.

Sorry chaps, but there is nothing intuitive about that.

How the queue should work.

Search.

Find a track or album

Press play for track or album

Track or album should play in it's entirity

If I want to add another track or album to listen at the end of the current track or album, I should do the following:

Search

Find a track or album,

Right click on the track or album and select Add to Queue

NB:  The track or album that has been added will play AFTER the current track or entirity of the current album has finished playing.  It should not play the first track of the second album in the middle of the currently play album - that's just stupid!

If I, instead of selecting Add to Queue, I select Play Now, the queue is cleared and the new track or album is begun.

E.G.  Yesterday, I felt like playing Pink Floyd, back to back.  SO I created (with great difficulty) a queue that had all of the albums in order.  I didn't get to the end of the queue.  Today, I want to play all of the Talk Talk albums back to back in chronbological order.

The first thing I have to do is delete the queue (oh, have you tried doing that with hundreds of track son your Android phone).  Then I can add the albums in a very convoluted manner.

And yes, I have spent an hour and a half on live chat!

Hello @Nubink and welcome to the community.

As it doesn't exist a specific button to clear the queue, the only way is to play a single track, the shortest as possible.

How it works,

- Don't use the feature "add to queue" as everything you add this way don't remove what is already in the queue.

- Just click play on this unique song playlist that I call "my clear queue"

spotify:user:ga8:playlist:15nQV78ghd7BE2L493TDXG:small

- as soon as you begin to play something new, it replaces what was in the queue.

Note : before that, in the preferences you need to untoggle the function Autoplay :

"Autoplay similar songs when your music ends" must be greyed out.

Hoping that will help you.

Good luck,

Thank you very much for the tip... a neat little work around for a very
silly problem.

Hopefully, the devs at Spotify will continue to see these queue based
issues and do something about them... although I won't hold my breath.
