I can't find Spotify in the Windows Volume Mixer

I can't find Spotify in the Windows Volume Mixer

I want to change my Spotify's output device on my Windows Volume Mixer, but Spotify doesn't show up in the Mixer (I am on Windows 11 and I'm using the Microsoft Store version).

Can you help me to solve this issue please?

Edit: Spotify appeared without any reason in my Windows Volume Mixer

Hey there, good to know that it is working now. But I would like to mention that you can simply install Spotify from the Website. That is the one I use personally and it always comes up in my mixer. If your Microsoft Apps version stops working again, feel free to try the Website version.

still does not work.

Hey @crimsonjudgment

The volume mixer is a feature that lets you change the output volume of the apps that are producing sound on your device. Have you checked your device's sound settings? From there you`ll be able to choose the correct output device and it should work out.

Hope this helps out, if you need any help the Community is one post away.

You have to have music playing for it to show up on the volume mixer.

So!
I had issues with this for MONTHS where I had to use the Spotify Web Player (UGH!)

It's infuriating me so see that people have been asking for a fix for this for YEARS.I did EVERYTHING Spotify suggested, even found myself looking through Host files in my Windows files (come on, it should not be that freaking hard to make software work)

The problem is: it does not show up in the list cause Spotify is not playing sound, and Spotify cannot play music without an Audio channel (endless loop), clean install does not fix it (even had external software to get rid of everything Spotify)

- I randomly found a workaround yesterday: play a music video (where the album cover art is placed) - for some reason, it will play even though it does not have a sound channel -> from there, you can assign it a channel in the overview, where it now should be visible.

Best of luck, this is such a sucky problem and it should be fixed by now.

Hey @LinneaB,

Thanks for reaching out and kudos for the troubleshooting you've done so far.

As a next step, can you try toggling off audio enhancements, communication settings, Exclusive Mode as well as Spatial sound to see if that helps?

  1. Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound > Sound Control Panel, switch to the Communications tab and set "When Windows detects communications activity" to Do nothing.
  2. Head back to the Playback tab, then right-click your audio output device and select Properties. In the new window that pops up, switch to the Advanced tab and untick "Exclusive Mode", "Enable audio enhancements" and "Spatial sound".

Keep us posted.
