Local file playback has really bad crackling/noise

My Question or Issue

Some local files appear to playback with audio crackling. I have a lot of electronic music I've purchased from iTunes and added to Spotify, and in some of the bassier tracks I'm getting some really nasty and distracting crackling. Thought it was my headset, but playing two versions of the same song (Spotify's version vs. the local version) and playing the file in another program showed that the issue is definitely with Spotify's playback. Messing with equalizer settings has no effect either. Seems like this problem started with the most recent update.

If you can hear crackling while playing your local files it's possible you've encountered an issue that we're currently investigating. Take a look at this Ongoing issue and add your vote by clicking on the +VOTE button. Make sure you follow the steps under Status Update as well. 

It'll also be useful to Subscribe via the three-dots menu in the top right corner next to the title. That'll make sure you stay up to date with any relevant updates about this.
