Welcome to the Community!
We recommend deleting the app version you're using and downloading it again either from our website or from the Microsoft Store as they can have different behavior.
Also, make sure to search for the Local Files in the app on PC by going to Settings (by clicking on your profile picture) > Your Library > Show Local Files.
If you're still unable to see the option, it'd be great if you could send us the app version you're currently running so we can have a look.

Thanks for replying. I'm actually running Spotify via Windows 7 on my desktop computer. Downloading the app isn't an option since it requires Windows 10 or above. The weird thing is that the Local Files option in Settings was there originally but has since disappeared.

At Spotify, we are always working to provide our users with the best possible listening experience. We continuously encourage users to use the latest version of Spotify as it contains the newest features and bug fixes. For more information on that you can see our Support pages.
However older versions of the app often have broken or missing features due to their old interface, which can not support the latest Spotify experience. In addition some of these old apps have security vulnerabilities associated with underlying older technologies. These vulnerabilities are not available on the latest versions of the app and can only be eliminated by shutting down services built with older technologies.

hello! I’m having the same issue. I need to get some audio files moved to Spotify and the settings are not showing anything about local files. It’s not on the list

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.
Just to confirm, have you tried following these specific steps to play your local files in the Spotify app?
You should be able to enable Local files under Your Library:
If you can't find this option, would you mind sending us a screenshot of the app settings so we can take a closer look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert image option in the post editor. Make sure not to send any private info.
Additionally, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device would come in handy.
We'll be waiting for your reply.
As the other person didn't reply and I have the same issue, here is a screenshot. The "Show Local Files" option in your screenshot is not available on my desktop (Windows 11).

Thanks for the screenshot! I believe I figured out the root cause of your issue 🙂
What you've sent us looks like a screen capture of the settings of the Web Player and not the app itself. The Web Player has less settings and functions available, which is why you're not seeing the local files option in there.
You can try downloading the app either from our website or the Microsoft app store. Once installed, enable the setting and you'll be good to go!

That's my bad, I could've shared this nifty FAQ article we have on local files as it would have been of use to you. Glad to see you've managed to get things working though! 🙂
Keep in mind that local files always need to be physically present on the device you're playing them from. If you include them in a playlist and you open that playlist from a different device, they will appear greyed out (unless Spotify is open on both devices simultaneously).
