My Question or Issue

I've had this issue since the introduction of the new UI refresh. I use the keyboard to navigate the playlist and noticed from day 1 that the selection on the song when you scroll up (i.e. arrow key up) on the top-most element will not properly scroll the whole UI like it does when you scroll down (i.e. arrow key down). While this is at best "just" an annoyance, it does give the feeling of unpolished UI. I was hoping that after a few updates of the UI refresh this would be fixed, but it's been more than 1 year, so I am now reporting this here. There's probably been more important things to do, but this is still annoying... especially as an old timer where the old UI used to work flawlessly with the keyboard.

I've attached a GIF of how this looks like. More relevant information to reproduce the issue:

This was on a PC, Windows 10. 2560x1440 desktop resolution with 125% DPI scale. Latest version of Spotify. Steps to repro: have a playlist that has more songs in it than the window, meaning you get something you need to scroll through it. Use the arrow keys to navigate up/down. Note that going down is fine, and it will properly scroll one whole page. Scrolling up with the arrow keys will however go over other UI elements when you're on the 1-2 first elements. After those, the playlist will go up one whole page. The way this should work is that the _visible_ first element when scrolling up should be what triggers the scrolling up, not the one that's hidden behind other UI.

Hey @Kalsarikännit,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

We appreciate the details you included in your post. To continue investigating this behavior, it would be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if it makes any difference.

Also, just to make sure we're covering all the basics, in case you haven't tried before, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article to see if it changes the behavior.

Lastly, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi Oscar, thanks for the reply!

A colleague tried logging into their account on my device, same thing. And the same issue reproduces on their device as well, so it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I also nuked the Spotify config and also did a fresh re-install according to the article, and I still get the same issues. I can repro this on both my PC at home and my PC at the office.

The version of Spotify I'm running taken from the app:

Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.44.405.g81fd6352

Thanks!

Hi @Kalsarikännit,

Thanks for the reply and the provided information.

We've done some more extensive testing for this on our end and the results are inconsistent. Could you test if the behaviour happens at different resolutions and scaling levels? Try pressing Ctrl+0 in Spotify to reset the zoom level, because if the app is zoomed in, perhaps that causes UI elements to overlap and thus cause the issue. Check if it makes a difference if the app is maximized and not maximized too.

Let us know how it goes.
