My Question or Issue

I have been having problem with getting the warning that the song I'm about to add to my playlist already is on the playlist. The playlist is a shared playlist I share with a few friend and we have over 2500+ songs on it. I dont accidently want to add a duplicate of a special song.

this problem just started to me recently too, it was working fine a week ago then it seems to have broken after i redeemed my year long subscription to Spotify premium, none of my playlists are giving me a warning for already added songs, as well as the Spotify recommended tab at the bottom of the playlist also recommending to add songs already in the playlist, I reinstalled Spotify last night using the windows installer from the web but the issue persists. The attached image has 5 recommended songs that are already in the playlist, I downloaded only the viewed playlist to show what was already in the playlist. Not sure what's going on or how to fix it and its pretty annoying

Yep, Spotify Web (on Chrome, Windows 10) is no longer giving duplicate warnings when I add literally the same song to my playlist (same song, album, description, etc). Users have been reporting about this specific issue for 4 years now 😬

have noticed the same thing šŸ˜• on desktop/ installed spotify it does alert, on web app it does not, every time.

Hey folks,

What method of adding the songs are you using? At the moment, the pop up message is not supported in the "Find more" button (located at the bottom of your playlist), but it should still show up on the Web Player when you add a song from the three dots menu or via drag & drop into the playlist.

If it doesn't do that on your end, make sure you aren't blocking any permissions for the webpage and that you're running the latest updates for your browser. If you have any extensions installed, check if disabling them temporarily & refreshing the page does the trick. You can also try with another browser or another device to see if everything looks good there.

It's also worth noting that some songs might be uploaded more than once on the platform under a different unique identifier which could also be why the pop up doesn't show. There's more info on the topic here, check it out šŸ™‚

Hope this clears things up.
