Quality of playback changes when Spotify is minimized.

I noticed that when I am using any other program other than Spotify, the quality of the music in my headphones changes... I scoured The Community's threads on the subject and only found discussions/fixes for volume changes. My volume stays pretty constant but the bass and other effects are minimized as soon as I leave Spotify.

I'm using Windows 10 with a quality machine and headphones and I've tried applying "Disable all sound effects" in my headphone properties, and "Do nothing" in the Communications section of my Sound options.
