My Question or Issue

When I'm listening to spotify on my desktop computer, if I remove an audio cable from the headphone jack (whether headphones or speakers), spotify stops outputting any sound until I restart the program.  It will continue to run but nothing I do can get it to put out sound until I restart it.

However, if I plug something into the audio jack, it recognizes that and switches to the relevant output (i.e. I plug headphones in and the sound switches to headphones).

Every so often it will work when I pull out a cable but often it won't.

Hey @ly7bvp971as3nfh, welcome to the community.

Hope you’re doing great!

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

I'll see what I can suggest next 🙂

Note: I'm not a Spotify employee.

I actually shut my desktop down every night.  I am trying to uninstall and reinstall and we'll see if it works.
