I've been using the vastly superior (but much older) v0.9.7.16 of Spotify without any issues until recently when the search facility seems to have stopped giving any results!
It's the colour scheme & general superior usability of this older version compared to the current versions which I, and many others much prefer.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get this old version working again please?
Hey @hotlips209874,
I'm unable to provide any support for version 0.9.7.16 as it's not the newest version of the app.
I'd recommend downloading the latest version of the app: https://spotify.com/download.
This is the desktop version, not the app, and I understand it's not the inferior newer version.
I want to know why the search has stopped working on this older version when it was fine until very recently.
Alternatively, how do I make the newer version look the same as this older version?
When I'm referring to 'app', I'm talking about either the desktop or mobile application. 🙂
It's an old version, so some things could stop working. There's no support provided for these old apps, so if a feature broke, it stays broken.
There isn't any way to make the newer version look the same as the older version 🙂
About a year ago, I experimented with the new version and after doing research, there was a way to modify some of the files in the Spotify directory to change the colour scheme, but even though it was better than nothing, it wasn't as good as the older version.
I can't now remember where online this "project" was as there was a lot of other people who also wanted the same outcome as me.
I'm hoping someone in this whole community knows what I mean and can assist.
That's not something I can help with/comment on, sorry 🙂
No problem Maxim, I'm relying on some longstanding Spotify'ers to hopefully assist me.
There were many, many people with the same query as me a year ago on google!
I'm disappointed that not a single Spotify user has ever wanted to go back to the colourscheme of the older versions, even though I know there are many people that do, but clearly not on this official forum!
Why don't Spotify simply add a customization option to the programme?
Well, you can always check out the Community Ideas Exchange and look for a similar idea or create one if you can't find a similar one 🙂 If you decide to create one, you need to get enough support from other users to have Spotify check out your idea.
Hi @hotlips209874,
@Maxim is right. Older versions will stop working one day and Spotify has already made it clear that it won't continue supporting older, like other companies that wo't support their older products.
You could try an even older version that you might like but it is not guranteed that will work.
You might not like the new one but once you get used to it, it will be fine.
Everyone hated the iPhone X for it's notch but look how things are now 😉
Please, if you have any ideas you want to share or support the current ones just head to the page Maxim provided you.
Cheers!
