My Question or Issue

Hello there!

Recently I've came across some unpleasant issue. Spotify Connect (PC) stopped working for some reason. I still can use it when dealing with Web Version or Mobile App. But when it comes to PC... Nothing works. The "Connect to a device" option doesn't recognize any devices (my phone f.i.), and I can listen to different songs on PC app and Mobile App at the same time... The icing on the cake is inability to run my song as a discord status (seems like discord doesn't even see the activity on my account, when I use PC version).

I've tried to uninstall and install again, tried to connect discord to spotify again. Was a dead end. "Private session" is off. The settings are default.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thank you.

I have the same problem, mine started just yesterday and i was very sure it was because my internet, but no.... its the Desktop app problem, and as i see this problem has existed for a long time and never tried to fixed.
Very good Spotify now you're going to loose a lot of clients just for not fixing a bug.

Same issue! Also started yesterday! (right after I installed a new update)

having the same problem. PC app is not showing up on mobile and vice versa

please help me! i cant not sync between web and pc app

Experiencing this issue as well, seems like the Desktop App doesn't want to count as a "connected" device so it doesn't show devices available and the app as a device for other devices.

The answers are all the same - tried clean reinstalling, restarting my router, changing the "host" file located in the System32 folder (which is empty, there's nothing to change) and even tried turning on and off a VPN.  The Desktop App is almost completely invisible compared to the other devices and the only choice left for me was to use the Web Player site on my browser. There's absolutely no reason for this to be happening - we pay monthly for Spotify, someone definitely needs to find a fix to this.

Yep same here. I was thinking it was a problem with the newer versions but it seems my friends don't have the same problem

The same problem here since I've updated the desktop app. Please, help us:(

Currently experiencing the same issue on multiple PC's, spotify connects with every device and browser sessions but not on desktop app

Same, This is happening to me as well, Discord doesn't detect spotify's running status, listen along, or even the mobile app detects the pc device when it's running .

I think the problem is with the last 2 latest versions, I went back to 1186.. and spotify connect works. I'm not sure if this won't create new problems though.

This has just yesterday started happening to me too and it's driving me nuts. I have tried every single thing suggested. Reinstalled, logged out multiple times, cleared cache, checked hostfile, etc etc.. nothing works. Mobile and web versions all see each other. The desktop versions do not at all. Please listen to this influx of people with the same issue and resolve it.

I too just wound back to 1186 and functionality is restored so it's later versions

Also experiencing this issue, connect is working fine between web and mobile but not desktop. Started happening when I updated the desktop app

I got the same Issue, it works on Phone though dont know why

Same here

i have the same problem too. until mid Sep there was no problem at all, for me

Going back to version 1.1.86.857 fixed this for me

how?

Having the same problem. I can't connect to my bluetooth speaker or my phone using the desktop app but I can use the spotify webplayer and connect to my devices using the webplayer.

I'm having the same problem. Finally went to look for a solution just to find out there isn't one. It's extremely frustrating.
