Spotify app won't unmute

This has happened to me twice: the Spotify desktop app becomes stuck on mute and will not unmute. The little volume icon is X'ed out. Clicking will not unmute it. Closing and restarting the app doesn't work; rebooting doesn't work. The app is permanently, irreversibly muted. Both times, I've ended up having to uninstall and reinstall the app. Any ideas about what is causing this or what to do if it happens again?

Make sure your sound volume bar on spotfiy isn't all the way down.. If it is all the way down clicking the "Mute" button will not unmute.
