My Question or Issue

When I try to play a song I get the following error message "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it"

I have tried all the fixes I have seen:

Reinstalling app.

Using version from Microsoft store.

Disabled hardware acceleration.

Disabled crossfading.

Changed speaker options.

Deleted local files.

I've had this issue before and it was fixed by using the version from the Microsoft store but this isn't working now.

Spotify works on my phone and my laptop, web player also works only the desktop app doesn't work.

I think I have found a temporary resolution to this issue. Turn off "Smart Shuffle" then play the songs you cant play. Then turn "Smart Shuffle" back on and the songs should be playable.

If you have shuffle turned off, cycle through the shuffle options then play your song that was unplayable. The app seems to lag or freeze for a second then recover after this action when the issue is present.

For me, I found going into your audio settings, clicking on your output device, and disabling any "effects" worked.

Reinstalled the app both from spotify page and from microsoft store

Restart Spotify

Clear cache on your device

Lower the streaming quality

Disable hardware acceleration

Done a ''network recovery''

Connecting different headset and changing output to it then changing back

My Question or Issue

Spotify can't play this rigt now. If you have this file on your computer you can import it

Tracks are not playing on the desktop version of the program when you click on play the message “Spotify can't play this rigt now. If you have this file on your computer you can import it.”. It works only through the web version works. checked on several nashniki. when playing local tracks starts but there is no sound. how to solve this problem?

Did not work for me. None of the recommended solutions are working. This is a Spotify issue, not a user issue.

This is continuing to happen to me. Nothing I do has solved it yet.

I canceled premium. I see no point in paying for a service that does not
work properly.

did you do this - Windows start button > settings > system > sound > output device properties > advanced device properties > advanced > changed format to 24 bit, 44100 Hz.  I just did this and its now working so hopefully stays that way

FWIW. This issue started happening to me recently. In my case it was because i had gotten a new headset and the new audio device had not been set to be default for all audio in Windows. It was set as default for communication, but not for _all_ audio. Once i fixed that in windows audio settings, Spotify started working as well.

I've had Spotify for years and now it says it cannot find and play the liked songs that I have been listening to at work. Anyone know what I can do?

UPDATE: I did ultimately find a solution by changing the Advanced settings in the Speakers/Headphones Properties window -- but I only needed to do this on my homes desktop, not my work desktop. Go figure!

^^^ This, folks, is the solution!^^^

enabled windows sonic for headphones and fixed my issue on widows 11

Spotify Customer Satisfaction Team: the beatings will continue until morale improves."

What settings did you change?

"What settings did you change?"

Open up Volume Mixer (lower right of system tray).

Click on Device (Speakers/Headphones).

Click on Advanced Tab.

Change Default Format from 24 bit, 48000 Hz to 24 bit, 44100 Hz (it's right above).

Click Apply.

Worked for me. Good luck!

That does seem to have worked. Now if Spotify only had a tech support team
that could have told me that...

I'm still not going to renew premium. I do not feel it's worth it.

Just one option there, 16 bit, 48000 Hz DVD~~

This works for me!! Thank you!!

Thank you! This instantly fixed the problem for me!

When I try to play a song on my desktop app, Spotify shows a pop-up error that says it can't play those songs and suggests that I might import already downloaded songs. But I can play them just fine on the mobile app. What can I do to solve this issue?

My Question or Issue

Spotify gives me the error listed in the title whenever i try to play a song on the app and I have no idea how to fix it. I've looked at posts with the same issue and none of them have solved my problem

Attempted fixes:

Reinstalling spotify

Deleting spotify app data (none seem to exist)

Checking audio sampling rate (48k so below any issue levels)

Changing/removing hosts (unsuccessful as couldn't find any)

Temporary solution:

My temporary solution is to use spotify web version which works fine but not as good as app

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advanced
