Spotify can't play this right now

My Question or Issue

Hey there^^ 

Everytime i try to play anything on the spotify desktop app (Windows) it tells me the following: Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it.

I've already tried reinstalling the app, clearing my hostfile, i've tried older versions of the app, turning hardware acceleration on/off, port forwarding and nothing works.
Playback on the webbrowser works perfectly and phones also don't have any issues. 
I've got no clue what's happening so if anyone could help let me know 🙂

Hi @Delaycloud, thanks for reaching out!

Please follow these steps and let me know if it w works:

1. Right-click on the speaker icon next to the clock;
2. Select Sound Settings;
3. Scroll to the Advanced section and open the Volume Mixer;
-- if Spotify is not listed, open the app and click on play, even if it doesn't play music;
4. Expand Spotify options by clicking on the down arrow on the right;
5. Check which output device is used and switch to the desired one (or try them all until you see which one works).
