My Question or Issue

For the past few days the spotify web player has not been working. When I try to play something it plays then when it finishes it plays 1 second of the next song then says spotify can't play this right now.

Hi @user-removed,

Thanks for reaching out.  Could you please provide us the following:

  • Is this on all devices or only on the Chromebook?
  • When did this start happening?
  • Can you try to clear your cache and cookies, at least the ones related to Spotify?
  • If you use a VPN, disable it as it can cause network issues

Let us know how it goes.

Spotify works well on my other devices it is just my Chromebook. It started happening about a week ago. I have cleared my cache multiple times with no luck. I don't use a VPN.

Hi @user-removed,

Thanks for the reply.

When it started happening, did this coincide with anything, such as updates or changes to your setup? Also, would it be possible to install a different browser and test out if it works there?

hello! i expirence the exact opposite problem where my podcasts can play but not my music, if i do get it to play music then only a few songs before i hit the "spotify cant play this right now." its frustrating since it was completely fine like a week ago but now im just geting this problem! ive tried everything, like logging out, restarting my chromebook and then logging back in. or turning on and off the wifi. ive checked if my chrome is out of date but its currently up to date. i dont know what else to do...

in windows, reinstall

I'm using a company computer to play spotify and cannot install programs myself. About two weeks ago the web player started failing to play songs on auto-play after the second played song. Even though auto-play only works on the second song it will still briefly display "Spotify can't play this right now" but play the second song anyway. after trying to play the third song in queue it will display "Spotify can't play this right now" once more and the song timer will turn into " -:-- " on both sides. This error forces me to refresh and start playing manually. Oddly enough pressing the "Next" button before the end of a song will allow another two songs to be auto-played.

I use the web player on my work laptop and am finding a similar issue. I cannot play ANY song. It says "This song can't play right now" continuously, as it rattles through an album/playlist, making no sound. Whether I use Chrome or Microsoft Edge, it's the same outcome.

As I can play songs using a free account, it seems to be specific to my personal premium account.

But I have also experimented with VPNs and find my premium account plays fine without VPNs. However, I cannot rid of the VPNs when connecting to my work's internet.

Is there any data on my account that can be told to me whether it's being geoblocked or something? Thanks.

(Let me know if i need to set up a different topic, I just felt this was the same issue)
