Spotify forces shuffle mode when played on chromecast audio

I use the chromecast audio to play from the app desktop windows or the webapp on my PC (win11). When I start casting, spotify goes into shuffle mode. Basically making it impossible to choose songs or listen to a whole album.

As you see the shuffle symbol is green and cant be clicked. Is it supposed to work like that or whats going on?

This problem does not happen with chromecast tv (but it's not the same quality song)

I specify that I am not premium but I do not think that is the origin of the problem, since before everything was fine.

do you have this problem? how to solve it?

Welcome to the Community!

If you're using a free account to stream music from your PC or the Web player you'll only be able to listen to albums/playlists in shuffle mode, because the Chromecast acts as a separate device, which checks whether you have a free or Premium account (Like a mobile phone) and opens the link to the track you're trying to play rather than simply copying the playback from your PC.

Thanks Alex, I was thinking of something like that, but what amazes me is that before (a few weeks ago) I didn't have this problem: I could use the chromecast without the random mode (except a few years ago where this problem appeared, then disappeared quite quickly).
Do you think there have been any changes from spotify that could cause this?
I think I'm going to fall back on my chromecast tv, or a DAC output from my PC. It's a shame, chromecast audio is really good at optical output.

the problem seems to be fixed by spotify! I can again listen as I want via my chromecast without the shuffle mode. Thanks anyway.
