My Question or Issue
After after playing for a few minutes, Spotify becomes unresponsive - ie. I cannot forward/stop/search. The current track playing continues but then stops. I have to kill Spotify via Task Manager.
I play music via USB connection to a Schiit Modi 2U DAC.
Hey there @iSpace,
Thank you for your post here in the Community. We're happy to help.
In this case we suggest that you perform a clean reinstall of the app. This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.
Let us know how everything works after so that we can continue to assist you if you need us to 🙂
Take care!
Hi Jeremy, thanks for your message.
I did a clean installed but the issue has remained.
Hey @iSpace,
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
Did you download the app version from the Microsoft Store? We recommend that one, as it's best optimized for Windows 10. Also, can you confirm that the Spotify app has all permissions enabled and is excluded from your firewall and antivirus software?
On another note, does this happen with downloaded songs and the app manually set in offline mode as well? You can consult this guide on how to test this out.
Let us know how you get on.
Hello! I have reinstalled from the Windows Store & the problem still happens.
It appears to freeze after Spotify is open for 5-10 mins, regardless of whether a track has been playing or not.
I CAN continue to play offline files though, which is interesting!
Hey @iSpace,
Thanks for keeping us posted.
If the problem doesn't come up with downloaded files, this would indicate a connection issue. It's also a good idea to check if you observe the same under a different network. If it works with another connection, it's best to contact the service provider of the original network for more information. Make sure to also exclude Spotify from your Firewall and Antivirus apps.
If that doesn't do the trick could you ask a friend or family member to log in on your devices and see if the issue comes up there as well? Alternatively you can create a free one here and use it for the test.
Hope this helps. Keep us posted on how it goes.
Hi @Mihail
OK I tried a different network (my cell phone) and the problem disappears!
So it must be my home network dropping out?
Hey @iSpace,
Thanks for the reply.
If everything runs fine on a different network you might want to restart your router and make sure that Spotify is not blocked by any firewall/ system management software.
Cheers.
