My Question or Issue
For about a month, Spotify isn't working on my Windows 10 laptop.
Playlists are all empty, songs dont play at all, like if there was any music on Spotify.
This is strange because i can see like new albums, new playlists running on Spotify but i'm not able to play them...
Tried to unistall, reinstall, light on-off my device, delete everything i could, checked I wasn't on offline mode but I am not, light off my antivirus and malware protection... and the problems remains the same.
Spotify live player works fine on Spotify website and I can find back all my playlists and play any song...
If anyone already had this problem or have an idea...
Solved! Go to Solution.
I searched on internet and I found someone who had the same error message as me.
-> Go to C: Windows \ System32 \ search in the bar : etc
Enter in etc folder and delete "hosts" file.
It worked for me ! Hope it will help some people !
Thanks for your time !
What about Windows firewall or any blocking like hostfile?
Did you try to delete the Spotify folder in %LocalAppData% ?
Thank you for your answer !!
Just tried it but the problem remains the same.. 😕

Do you use the Desktop Version or the Windows store one?
Did you try the other one to check if there is an issue with your installation?
However it looks like some sort of blocking to me.
I may be wrong but what is your response if you paste
tracert audio4-fa.scdn.co
in CMD or PoweShell?
Thank you for your fast answer.
I tried both versions (desktop and windows store version) but the result is the same.
This is what i have when i write this on CMD :
C:\Users\steev>tracert audio4-fa.scdn.co
Détermination de l’itinéraire vers beta.spotify.map.fastly.net [151.101.120.246]
avec un maximum de 30 sauts :

2 78 ms 68 ms 77 ms 10.40.0.1

6 148 ms 157 ms 117 ms 194.149.166.50
7 * * * Délai d’attente de la demande dépassé.

9 143 ms 96 ms 114 ms 151.101.120.246
Itinéraire déterminé.
The response is fine, no issue there.
Do you have another device where you can test it? If not, maybe another user on the same device/pc?
Sorry for the long time to answer again, i gave up trying to make it work...
Now I'm using web version (open.spotify.com) and it runned fine until like 1 week ago..
(Tried again to use Spotify application and still doesn't work...)
Now I can't add titles to my favourite list and can't remove them neither...
I tried to delete cookies but problem remains the same...
I don't know if someone has the same problem...
Thanks
Hey @StevenMar,
Thanks for reaching out about this.
Just to confirm, are you not able to open/play/save any song in the desktop app, or is it just with specific songs (e.g. music saved to Your Library, music downloaded for offline listening, etc.)?
Also, I know @user-removed helped you troubleshoot your network and everything appears to be fine, but do you mind switching to another network connection temporarily to see if that resolves the issue?
Thanks! Keep us posted - we'll do our best to help you resolve this.
Hey @StevenMar,
Thanks for getting back to us, and no worries 🙂
This sounds like it could be an account issue. To confirm this, do you mind logging in with another account and seeing if everything appears as normal?
If so, we recommend creating a new account and using that one instead. You can transfer your saved content over to the new account using the steps in this Spotify Answer.
Thanks - keep us posted!
I have the same problem using a new account.
I tried again to unistall and install again and i have something new :
I checked my fire-wall, but Spotify is an authorized app, and I don't have proxy I think...
Thank you for your time... I hope it will work someday haha
