I installed Spotify on my (admittedly bad) laptop and the program itself generally doesn't give me issues. Because my computer is slow, I try to have the least amount of programs possible open on start-up, including Spotify. I disabled start-up from the Settings and the Task Manager itself, so I should be good to go, right?
Apparently not, as occasionally (not always), when I boot up my computer, Spotify will open automatically anyways. On top of that, sometimes it crashes my WHOLE COMPUTER mid-loading screen. I then have to force shut down and start up again, where it will either start automatically again or not at all.
Now let me talk about the crashing some more because it's not only an issue in this scenario. Sometimes I don't even have start-up issues and I open Spotify manually. However, sometimes, a solid few seconds after I close out of Spotify, my entire computer with crash and I have to force shut down and restart again. So to combat this, when I decide to open Spotify, I just keep it open all day, even when I stop using it. I keep it open until I decide to shut down my computer, so it force shuts it down with no crashing.
I don't have any issues with crashing when the program itself is open. It's only either when it automatically boots up (which again, I have disabled entirely from Spotify's settings AND task manager startup settings) or a brief moment after I close out of the program. I have uninstalled Spotify before and have had zero crashing issues, so I know for sure it is a problem with the program.
As mentioned before, my computer isn't the best so maybe this issue can be pinned on that. But even though it's not that good of a computer, I've pushed it's limits far more than a simple music app can and it never crashed like this. The Spotify program itself isn't even slow on this computer. When it's working, it works perfectly fine. It's just the crashing issues and the random unwanted start-ups on computer boot that I can't seem to stop.
I'm on Windows 10 and I'm using the Spotify App from the Windows Store, which I had installed about three weeks ago. I had mentioned uninstalling Spotify before, and that was the actual program straight from the website rather than the app, but I had the same issue.
Again, when it works, it works fine. I'd just like to be able to use Spotify without these issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
