Spotify local file art duplication

Spotify local file art duplication

Plan: premium

Devices:
Windows 10 Pro 21H2 (using installer, not windows 10 app, Spotify for Windows (64 bit) 1.2.18.999.g9b38fc27)
Iphone 8+ on iOS 14.6 Version: 8.8.62.549

Issue:

When importing local files into spotify, if 2 local files have the same artist

in the mp3 tags, the cover art will be incorrectly duplicated in the area which displays the currently playing song, while the correct cover art will be displayed in the playlist section.

This behavior occurred on both PC and mobile.
An example of this is available for download below, and can be seen with the following playlist (once said local files are imported):

This issue relates to this previous issue, in which the cover art in the playlist was fixed, but the issue with the cover art while playing still remains

Hey @Meepster99,

Thanks for posting in the Community and the extensive description of the experience.

Are you able to reproduce this with different local files, a different account and on different devices?

This may be related to the metadata of the files as well, hence the need to try with different ones.

Keep us posted on the results.

Cheers!

it is reproducible with different local files, with different metadata(images, artist and titles)
this playlist (with songs attached below) shows more undefined behavior

bug example 2.jpg

The behavior on PC is identical to the previous playlist, while on mobile, the art used is now from a different song in another playlist. While this is not the same as the previous example, I still felt it should be included.

Below is the mp3 files used, and the example image file

I will attempt to reproduce this on other devices in the future, but currently I have only documented it on the two devices listed in my initial issue

Hey @Meepster99

Thanks for your reply.

Could you perform a clean reinstall of the app on your devices to check if that makes the difference? Make sure to follow these specific steps to do so.

If this doesn't do the trick, would you mind trying to remove those files and add them again to see if it helps?

Let us know how it goes.

The behavior still occurs even through multiple reinstalls(both on pc and computer) and through deleting and re-adding the songs on the playlist.

Hi @Meepster99

Thanks for getting back to us.

Just to confirm, have you followed the exact steps of a clean reinstall in the link I sent above?

If so, we suggest that you log out and log back in twice in a row on both devices to see if that makes the difference. We know it sounds odd, but it'll trigger a sync between your account and devices.

Lastly, could you let us know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update?

We'll be on the lookout.

I apologize, but I do not know when this started to happen, but it has persisted between reinstalls.
