Spotify opens but won't load on destop

I had the desktop player downloaded and when I opened it, the window popped up and nothing would load and it also started making a dinging noise. I have tried closing the app, restarting my computer and even deleted the program off my machine and redownloading it and nothing is working. 

Any suggestions on what I can do? I am currently running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with service pack 1.
