Hello,
I've got a problem with playing local files in spotify. After each song it stops playing. This weirdly enough is only the case for local songs and not for steamed songs.
I think it might have something to do with a windows update. When I found out, two days ago, I recovered my system to the state before the windows update, and then it worked again. Last night it automatically updated windows and same problem of not continuous playing occured again.
Someone with a solution? It is really annoying!
Cheers!

Mirreducki: Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I've been waiting forever for a solution to this problem and you have found it. You sir, win the internet.
I had an older version of the K lite codec pack installed (from 2011) and as soon as I installed this newer version, everything started working as it should. I can now play local songs continuously again and in the latest version of Spotify. Again, thank you!
Spotify, thanks for nothing. Your customer service sucks. o_O
The codec pack works like a charm! It feels really good to be able to use spotify at its full potential again.
Many thanks Mirreducki!
Mirreducki,
I don't have this issue however, I wanted to take some time out and personally thank you for posting this solution.
As a super user here on this community, this has been an unresolved issue that has plagued not only this topic, but many others since it was posted. I am sure many people will be so thankful this issue can be resolved.
Top stuff, I take my hat off to you!

Mirreducki i could kiss you
!!! great !!!
until now it seems to work perfectly.
thanks a lot mirreducki.
shame a lot spotify support...
This solution worked for me as well. Thank you, Mirreducki! 🙂
I think I love you
Mirreducki's fix still didn't help me though. I got the same problem, but only with .mp3 files so I think it's a codec error. I'm currently running windows 8.1 pro N. The "N" means that it doesn't come with multimeda features (codec etc.). I manually installed fraunhofers mpeg layer-3 codec and I think that's the problem. I can however not uninstall it... Does anyone have any suggestions?
You should probably uninstall fraunhofers then follow these steps if you are using windows .

As I already stated it's not possible to uninstall the codec running Windows 8.1 pro N, hence the problem. Hopefully the "official" codec pack from microsoft will solve this problem, it's not released before the 18th of October (or maybe even later).
I appreciate any other suggestions and will return after the release of the Microsoft codec pack with an update if nothing comes up before then.
So I finally installed the media feature pack from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40744
It contains the codecs you'll need for spotify and fixed the problem for me. This should be the first thing you try if you run into any troubles with codecs. Many codec pack out there tend to create more problems than they solve so be careful!
Sincerely
Richard
This codec pack works but is loaded with trojan and other things that my anti-virus keeps blocking. I have tried each link and have looked up other sites for this K-Lite pack but everything I download has viruses, etc. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
I found that on all my devices (laptop, android or ipod) that spotify stops after the playback of certain local files . always on the same files ,
These Files have all one thing in common . the length info for that track seems sort of mixed up in any form.
The length shown in spotify didn't match the length in the mp3 tag AND/OR the actual length in the mp3 tag even didin't match the actual time length of the song . On some Songs I could fix it using MP3Diags . changing the length info in the mp3 file .
But still for some tracks, I couldn't . The Problem seems to have different issues. But the root of the problem seems to be the interpretation of the track length in Spotify .
But nevertheless ALL .... I mean ALLLLLL other Media Players ( MediaPlayer / VLC Player / itunes / on PC or mobile decive ) are cabable of playing these exact tracks with no problem at all !!!!!!!
In Crossfade Mode or not . Does'nt matter . I mean, these are my old itunes Tracks, that I had in my Playlists on my Ipod / Laptop / mobile Android device all the last years with no problems at all ) I find it a very poor performance for a 10 EUR / month service .
The purpose of a playlist is, that you have CONTINUOUSLY Music Playback !!!!!!!!!!! isn't it ????

Worked for me. Thank you so much for the solution
Thanks a lot for the tip about the media feature pack from Microsoft!
I've spent over an hour trying K-Lite codec pack, Fraunhofer decoder, Spotify-reinstall and messing in the windows registry. Nothing worked until I got the MS media feature pack installed.
