Spotify stops playing music

Spotify stops playing music randomly on my PC. I've had spotify for ages on my home computer and on my phone, without any issue. A couple of days ago i installed spotify on my work PC and ever since it's randomly stopped playing music (including changing the play icon to a pause icon and the music progressbar stopping). It will stop indefinitely. I'm not using the app or on my home PC when this happens, and i don't share account with anyone. I'm really hoping i can get some help here that doesn't involve reinstalling, since it's already such a "fresh" install, and the app/client at home is working without issue every single day. I turned off hardware acceleration, but that didn't help.

Hey @Zinistra, is it showing one of your computer names as active in the bottom right hand corner when this happens? Are you doing anything in particular when your music decides to pause randomly?

Nope, doesn't show anything else as active. Sometimes i'm typing, other times it's happened when i'm just sitting nearby and not touching the computer. Also, this happened for the first time today when i was walking home from work listening to spotify, with it in my pocket without using the phone.

Is it possible the playback controls are being bumped on your lockscreen by any chance? This could cause playback to stop when listening on another device as well, if the playback controls are visible on your phone at the time.

I doubt it, it's in a phone case that shouldn't register any electrical impulses from anything. Besides, it hasn't happened on the phone until today, but it started last week when i installed it on my work PC. I'll be right next to it and fiddling with some papers or whatever and it'll just pause the music. No lock screen on either phone or PC, no phone being used at the same time, nothing. Sometimes it'll happen multiple times in a short window of time (like 10 minutes), sometimes twice in one minute, sometimes it'll play unhindered for hours.

I can add that I've been sitting next to the PC at work and home, not touching either keyboard or mouse, and the phone lying next to me with no active apps on it, and it still pauses.

We have the same problem. Suddenly the music stops and a blue bar at the top of Spotify says Can´t play the actuall song. And we have to stop Spotify and start it again. We have no trouble with internet But it says that we have no internet connection. We hav Windows 10. We have tried to reinstall a several times but it happens anyway, It´s really annoying. It happens several times per hour.

I don't even get a bar on the top, it just pauses without warning 😕
