Spotify won't play songs after installing Mixlr

Solved!

Spotify won't play songs after installing Mixlr

I've been using Spotify for years and never had this kind of problem until I decided to download this software called Mixlr. I'm a premium user and again, never had problems about songs not playing (except those Avril Lavigne songs that doesn't play whenever I'm listening on my playlist unless I play them manually). That said, Mixlr has this another "independent sound driver" called AudioLink. Thing is, I already uninstalled Mixlr but the problem still exist. I won't play and saying "This song is not available. If you have the file on your computer you can import it." when I've been listening to these songs on Spotify for years.

I already tried uninstall, install trick and even rummaged around my sound drive smthing but to no avail. Am I the only one experiencing this and how can I solve this?

Ps. I'm now stuck using the web player because my spotify works there.

Hey @xiatric

That's a bit strange.

It looks like Mixlr's audio driver caused Spotify not to find/use any audio devices.

First thing I'd suggest is reinstalling Spotify in a clean way:

1. Close Spotify and uninstall it.
2. Go to %AppData% in Windows Explorer, and delete any Spotify folders you find in Local and Roaming folders.
3. Restart your computer.

4. Install Spotify.

Note: if you run a Windows Store installation, chances are there is nothing in Appdata. Try resetting the app's data as described here (the Windows Club), and reinstall following the steps in this article.

Another thing that may help is making sure that the audio device you want to use is marked as default.
1. Right-click on speaker icon on Taskbar
2. Select Playback Devices
3. Select the right audio device andset it Default.
4. Click Ok.

Let me know how it goes! 🙂
