Video Ad loading freezes screen and mouse (Windows 10)

My Question or Issue

Video ads seem to take up so much processing power that the screen freezes for multiple seconds. The sound continues, but the video and my mouse are stuck until it finishes buffering.

Is there a place to choose the quality of ads loaded (like data saving), or switch back to audio only ads - even if the screen is blocked by the image. I'd rather have more audio ads than have to deal with my computer freezing five times in a row until the ads end. Right now I have to close the spotify app as soon as I can when ads start if I want to have a usable computer.

*Also let me add that it freezes at the beginning of every single ad that loads. So this happens like five times in a row for multiple seconds each time once ads start playing.
