My Question or Issue
Firstly, apologies if this is not the correct place for a Web Player issue, but I couldn't find a help category for the Web Player, so I figured selecting based on my operating system would be the best, though I can delete and move it to another category if this is the wrong place.
As of yesterday[?], Spotify Web Player has been unable to play more than 2 songs from any source, playing the first song normally, followed by the second song playing despite the progress bar at the bottom being full before the song starts and the time indicating that the song has already completed as well, stopping when it reaches the end and being unable to play anything else [occasionally clicking 3+ songs further down the queue manages to get it going again for another 2 songs, but not often] until I have reloaded the webpage and started again.  Obviously, this is extremely annoying and is making the Web Player unfit for purpose.
I have tried logging out and back in, clearing the cookies and cache, and restarting my laptop to no avail.  To try and investigate further, I attempted to open the Web Player in an incognito window, as I suspect that would have been one of the initial suggestions, and I got a plain black screen with white text in the top left corner, 'no healthy upstream', and nothing else.

Awesome, @Divine_Eidolon! Glad to hear everything's working well now 👍
Perhaps there was just a temporary blip in the system that caused this. The "no healthy upstream" is usually related either to local issues with your current network setup due to corrupted cache or the occasional server outage on our end - rest assured we’re actively working on resolving the latter as quickly as possible.
It's a good idea to periodically clear your browser's cache + check for updates to minimize any potential hiccups and maintain stability. Sometimes, addons/extensions such as ad blockers can interfere too, so it's worth updating them or disabling them temporarily to see if that helps.
The Community is just a post away should you need assistance with anything else.
Cheers 🤘
Hi there, @Divine_Eidolon,
Thanks for reaching out! No need to apologize, that is the correct board!
Both the playback issue and the "no healthy upstream" error sound network-related. Have you made any changes to your setup recently? If possible, try using another Wi-Fi network to see if that makes a difference - you can create a mobile hotspot from your phone, for example. If you're using a VPN/Proxy, I'd suggest disabling it.
Something else that's worth testing is using another browser (Edge, Firefox, etc.). I'd also recommend checking if there are any entries in the hosts file on your laptop that may be interfering here. This guide goes in depth on the topic, check it out!
Let us know how it goes 👍
I have changed Wi-Fi as I'm currently away visiting family, but Spotify was working with no issues on the current network for 2 weeks prior to the current situation, and I don't believe anything has changed since then.
I will try on another network when I'm back at home again, as I cannot set up a hotspot from my phone, though I don't use a VPN or proxy, so we can at least eliminate that.
I have checked my hosts file, and it is completely empty, so there are no Spotify entries that I could remove as the guide suggests.
It does appear to work in Edge, though I need it to work in Chrome, as that's where I have everything set up, and I hate Edge; do you have any idea what the difference between the two would be? Interestingly, it does now appear to also be working in Incognito Chrome. Then, having gone back to 'cognito' Chrome, it appears to be working there again as well, though I haven't changed anything, so I don't understand why it would suddenly become functional again. And it worries me that it could just spontaneously stop working again, and I won't have a way to fix it...
