My Question or Issue

I am a premium subscriber and have been for many years. I have been watching the Joe Rogan podcast on Spotify, and at the beginning of each podcast I have to skip through like 3 or 4  two or three minute ads. And they interrupt the podcast right after the intro as separate tracks, not part of the podcast. I guess it's nice I can skip them, but why am I getting ads at all? I am paying for premium to not have to listen to ads.

I just had a chat with the Spotify help desk about this. He blatantly just lied about it. What a total disgrace!

He first told me I had corrupted files on my device (a brand new Samsung), so I had to uninstall Spotify and do a clean install. I asked him if that would guarantee no ads and why it happens on all my devices, not just the phone. He didn't reply to either or those, or what the corrupted files are which "he saw on my device". He said it's like a virus!!
(I'm a computer engineer so thankfully spotted the BS before doing that). 

I then showed him this thread & he repeated the BS that Spotify had said.

I then told him he should read the section from Joe Rogan's producer about not injecting ads and now that he said it was "outside of Spotify's control due to producers doing that" why did he tell me it was due to corrupted files on my device??!!
He couldn't reply to that either. Just saying "follow the instructions I've given you" (to do the clean install).

Spotify, this is disgusting behaviour and I'll be doing all I can to spread the word about this everywhere online.

Not only are you ripping off Premium payers with ads, but then having the audacity to help a help guy completely lie about it and try and get me to go through the hassle of re-installing the app.

I hope the moderator here has some honest explanation and justification about why we're being treated like idiots and they employ lying help desk staff.

I will now cancel my subscription and I suggest if you all don't like being treated like idiots, taken advantage of and lied to either, that you do the same!

Yeah, actually they do show up on the app.

You know who doesn’t have ads?  YouTube.  I would encourage everyone here to subscribe to YouTube instead of Spotify for an actual ad-free experience with way more music and content. 

Same here. I pay for no Ads! Stop lying to your premium customers! At least force the ads after the actual show. Better yet, STOP LYING TO CUSTOMERS! 

Next you say "oremium gets no ads but if the artist wants to put their own ads, we let them"

 

 

ADVERTISEMENT, Third party or not should not be allowed on Podcast programs that are wiewed by Premium users PERIODE(.) You are selling a product on your own platform with the advertisement of beeing ADD FREE and its not. If you don't see the problem here, then you are pretending not to. This is illegal.

@mihail, its now near the end of 2024 and i am still getting gambling ads while listening to podcasts, while on premium

I just finished a podcast, and Spotify automatically put me onto another podcast that I'd briefly listened to, but didn't like. The problem however, is that there were three unskippable ads between the change from one podcast to the other. These weren't ads integrated into the podcast that you can skip, they were unskippable ads coming directly from Spotify. I'm a premium user. Did you not promise your users that a premium account would see no ads? Then you hit me with three in a row. My suggestion is could you please stop doing this? Thanks.

I totally agree, I don't want to hear any ads as a paying customer!
