Why can't I change my email?

I haven't signed up with Facebook or anything but I have signed up with my student email and I'm trying to change it to my personal email. I tried to change it yet it won't let me.

Do you get an error message that the email is already in use? If so, you might have another Spotify account. You'll find more info on how to proceed in this article.

What exactly do you mean here? If you want to change the email address on your account because the email there is no longer active, you can do so provided you can still log in. You can change the address from the account page. To use an email address on your account, it mustn't be associated with a Spotify account. You can double check if this is the case with these steps.
