My Question or Issue

Hi, my Windows Spotify app broke after I tried to play non released album from Coldplay - and that's the first issue, I was able to access it from artist page but content of it did not load (there was only album cover and no tracks nor anything). That however, did not stop me from trying to play it and I added the album to the queue. After few ads, when the app tried to play the track it crashed, app did not close but now I have a notification "Something went wrong, Try reloading the page". Reloading obviously does not help because app still tries to play non existent track, app is unusable and I cannot do anything. I tried to fix it by logging out, but after new login it's still the same. After one day error still remains.

I know that track data is saved on this computer so cleaning AppData (or wherever user data is located) or just reinstalling the app will help.
I just wanted to report this issue because the user is able to brick the app with not must effort this way.

The album title is Alienradio from Coldplay (or something like this, it has purple cover).
Cheers 🙂

Hey @poijmc

Thanks for posting on the Community about this.

Could you confirm if you still experience this after performing a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your PC? This will remove corrupted data from previous installations that could be causing the issue.

Just to confirm, is this happening only when connected to a certain Internet connection? If possible, we'd suggest connecting to a different network. If it works with another connection, it’d be a good idea to further troubleshoot the original one (for example by restarting your router). You can also reach out to the service provider of the original network so that they can take a look on their end as well.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Yes, reinstalling Spotify works because it does not want to play that album anymore. However I still can break the app (pictures in the attachments). I checked the album on my phone and there it says that "This album is empty" (PC does not have this notification).
I do not think it's the network issue, album is set to release on 7th of May so it's expected that no songs are there. The problem is that I can add empty album to queue and when the app tries to play it, it breaks.

Hey @poijmc

Thanks for getting back to us.

It seems that this album is a Playlist created by a user different than the official Artist page of Coldplay.

This means the release isn't officially published by the band and the playlist includes no tracks as created by the user. When the album gets published on the planned release date it will appear on Spotify in the format of Album, not Playlist.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.
