can't add songs to public playlist

public playlist shared with me via link by a friend i'm following. cannot add songs to the playlist via desktop app or mobile app. no option appears to add to playlist. dragging song to playlist does not work: playlist greys out when attempting this.

It looks like you are trying to add songs to a public playlist and not a collaborative one. You can view a public playlist but you cannot edit it in any way. To do that you will need to be a member of the playlist or collaborator. Once you have joined a playlist you can then add songs to it.
