"Next Up" list automatically refreshes upon deletion

"Next Up" list automatically refreshes upon deletion

Hi, I'm streaming Premium Duo on Windows 10 on an Asus Zenbook.

If I try to clear out the entirety of the "Next Up" list -- either by using shift + scrolling to the end if there's something big in there (a multi-part album or playlist), or just manually deleting individual tracks if it's just a few -- as soon as I delete the very last item, the entirety of whatever was there automatically reappears. In other words, it's impossible for me to completely clear out "Next Up." Restarting the program or computer seems to be the only solution. (This will also happen with playing, sometimes: if I play through the last remaining item in next up, sometimes the list will immediately refresh to show the entire original occupant -- album, playlist, whatever.)

Any way to decisively clear out "Next Up" and have it remain empty?

Hey there @pete731,

Thank you for your post here in the Community. We're happy to help.

Can you provide us a screen recording? This will help us understand more directly what's going on directly from your end.

It would also be great if you can let us know which version of the app you have?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Cheers!

**bleep** for slow reply; got busy and haven't yet looked into how to do a screen recording.
My version seems to be 1.1.54.592.gc0b20638, if that looks right?

In lieu of a recording, here's a visual rundown for now:

1. I have some tracks in "Next in Queue."
2. Below that is the "Next Up" header, but there's only blank space below it, because I emptied that field by manual deletion.
3. But as soon as the last "Next in Queue" track finishes playing, immediately the first track that WAS in "Next Up" (before I deleted everything) starts playing.
4. Below that is the "Next Up" header, and that field is now full again with all the songs I deleted by hand.

It occurs to me that maybe the problem is this: Spotify isn't designed to stop playing; it's supposed to be like a radio station and continue indefinitely? So if there's nothing next in line, it reverts to whatever was there before?

Whereas I often really don't want to revert. For example, if I built a little soothing/romantic playlist for dinner, and then dinner goes on longer than I expected, I don't want to suddenly find myself listening to the "Terrifying Death Metal for Kickboxing" playlist I had going earlier in the day.

Sorry, @Jeremy, I have no idea why the part of that reply where I tried to mention you showed up as "bleep"?! But it was supposed to be a mention...

Hey @pete731

Thanks for getting back to us with this info.

Could you let us know if the same thing happens when you play another album or playlist without adding it to the queue?

In case you're unable to make a screen recording, you can include a regular video of what you're seeing on your end so we can take a better look. Just attach it to your next response to us by using the Insert Video option in the post editor.

Keep us posted.
