"Recently added" order has changed with the desktop update

"Recently added" order has changed with the desktop update

I have a playlist where I add most of the songs I listen to. I sort it by Recently added, so that the latest songs are always on top. Before this update, when I added a full album to my playlist the first song of the album would appear on top, which was very convenient since I barely use shuffle.

Since the new update, the album appears reversed (first song last, last song on top...). That doesn't happen on my Android (same playlist, also sort by Recently added).

The main issue is that now ALL the albums in the playlist are reversed, and I can't manually change the order since this playlist has over 3k songs.

Is this a bug, or the new (awful) way things work? 😞

PD. I attach and screenshot from my PC, and a screenshot from my Android (with the proper order - how it used to look like on every device).

Not to mention that there isn't even a column SPECIFICALLY FOR ARTISITS anymore....

I know I can sort by artists still, but looking at this new UI is terrible for how i use spotify and build playlists. It literally hides all the artists names under the song name now which makes it RIDICULOUSLY hard now to navigate a playlist with tons of artists quickly and visually, i dont want to spend 30 min scrolling through unknown album covers to find ONE single in 8,000 songs. This app is becoming more and more useless to me everyday. BRING BACK THE ARTIST COLUMN!!!!!

Between stuff like this and the fact that i can barely even get the app to loadon mobile or desktop half the time, I'm like THIS close to going through the effort to move my playlists over to Apple Music and cancel my subscription.. this cr ap is getting ridiculous....

That's funny, lately I use the Spotify web player on my phone rather than the app because it never loads...

Good news!

There is now a new Compact Mode for track lists (playlists and album pages) in the desktop app and Web Player

The drop down menu now has "Sort by" and "View as" options. To turn on compact mode, open up the drop down menu at the top right of a playlist or album page and click on "Compact" under "View as".

On Playlist pages, it removes the album art, and breaks out "Title" and "Artist" into their own separate columns again. This view is similar to before the redesign that added album art into playlists a few years ago.

On Album pages, it moves the artist and featured artists from below each track title, to a new "Artist" column to the right of the "Title" column.

When you turn on Compact Mode, it will be remembered and stay on when you are viewing both playlists and album pages. You can switch back to the regular "List" view at any time.

The new Compact Mode for track lists is rolling out in the desktop app and Web Player right now so you should be seeing it soon. This has been a highly requested feature since the redesign came out a few years ago.
