My Question or Issue

Hi, i have switched my soundcard (Creative X-fi) to another PCI-E slot.

Since then spotify shows the message "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it" and does not play.

Reinstalling Spotify did not help.

Soundcard is set to standard device.

Sound works for everything except spotify.

Sorry spotify, but failing software after you place a card to another PCI-E slot feels so 1998. (PCI back then)

Just a quick question, when reinstalling spotify did you delete all the cache files? If not try that, and try running a "scan for hardware changes" on the card in device manager, before installing spotify again, to enumerate its new device location. See if that helps solve the issue. Hope that helps 🙂

Hi,

thanks for your answer.

As you suggested

I uninstalled spotify

I deleted the cache

I did the device search on the soundcard

- up to here it did not work.

Then I tried everything again but i also uninstalled my soundcard and all drivers.

This did the trick.

After reinstalling, everything works.

Thankyou

Whats your soundcard bitrate set to?

I've been having a lot of issues recently with high bitrates. Although not officially supported above 192k, my workaround has been to set the bitrate down to 96k then start playing a track (which works), then put the bitrate back to what it was (which then continues working).
