My Question or Issue

Hi - I've used spotify for a number of years now - as a premium user. I recently bought a new PC, downloaded the app and used it normally for a couple of weeks. But as of last week, while I can open it and see all my songs / playlists, none of the songs play....I just get the above message. This is even if I've downloaded them. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Hey @james_b_1977

That error might indicate to some issue with the soundcard / audio interface, but it could also be the client itself.

I'd recommend reinstalling the client to rule out its own errors.

For non-Windows Store client do this:

1. Close Spotify and uninstall it.
2. Go to %AppData% in Windows Explorer, and delete any Spotify folders you find in Local and Roaming folders.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Install Spotify.

For Windows Store client I recommend resetting the app (Tenforums guide) and then reinstalling it following the steps in this article.

If the issue continues, make sure your audio output is set as Default. Check this WinAero guide on how to do this.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Thanks for this - i’ll Give it a go and let you know how things turn out!
