FAQs / Account Help

Find answers related to your Spotify account. See frequently asked questions and solutions for resetting your password, changing your email, verifying your account or updating your country settings.

Answer:

Generally, to change the country registered on your Spotify account, you’ll need to visit the profile page. For more info according to your plan, check below.

Spotify Premium

If you have Premium, you can use Spotify anywhere in the world for as long as you like!

But if you permanently move to another country, you'll need to update your country settings on Spotify and change your payment method to one that's been issued in your new country.

To do that:

  1. Log in to your account page
  2. Under Your plan, click UPDATE next to your payment method.
  3. Enter a new payment method that was issued in your new country.

Note: The changes will take effect from your next billing date.

In case updating your payment method leads to an error, you can alternatively cancel your plan, wait for the account to revert to free, change your country settings as shown below and then update the payment method as well.

Tip: You will only lose any downloaded content for offline use when doing this. Your library items will remain intact.

Spotify free

If you're on Spotify free, you can use Spotify in a different country for up to 14 days. After the 14 days have passed, you might see an error message pop up when trying to access your account.

In that case, to continue using Spotify with no issues, you'll need to update your country to match the one you're currently on first.

To do that:

  1. Access your account page. If you're not logged in on that browser, you might be prompted to do so.
  2. Click EDIT PROFILE
  3. Scroll down to Country and select your new country from the dropdown list.
Note: Your new country only shows when you’re actually there.
  4. Click SAVE PROFILE.

Note: If Spotify isn't available in your current location right now, you might not be able to update your country.

Or, you can also upgrade to Premium to listen anywhere for as long as you want without having to change country settings.

The most common reason for your Premium subscription suddenly disappearing is due to having a second Spotify account created using Facebook.

The best thing to try is logging out of Spotify, then back in using your email address and password. Avoid using the ‘Log in with Facebook’ button, as this will log you back into your Facebook-created account.

If this works and you’re now seeing your Premium account, it’s worth closing your free account to avoid any confusion in the future.

To confirm, you should see this (the Spotify Premium box under "Your Plan") in your Account overview if you're on Premium:
