Spotify Won't start all of a sudden. Mac OX 10.7.4

When I try to open spotify it bounces once in my dock and does nothing. No crash report, it just refuses to open. I've tried reinstalling.

Description

Spotify crashes afer a song starts playing.  Sometimes after just 5 or 6 seconds, sometimes 15 or more.  No error messages, it just stops playing and closes.  Started Thursday 21. Feb. 2013.

 

I started experiencing this problem on both Mac and PC oc Thursday 21. Feb. 2013.  I have two accounts, one Premium in the US and one free in Germany.  A friend of mine also has a free account in Germany.  Two of these three accounts are connected to our facebook accounts, and it is only these two accounts connected to facebook that crash!!  If I log in with the non-Facebook connected account there is no problem, and spotify works just fine.  We have also tried the steps in this forum for uninstaling Spotify and deleting caches, etc.

 

A more detailed description, using numbered steps

1. Open Spotify, and log-in with an account connected to Facebook

2. If Spotify stays open longer than 30 seconds and doesnt automatically crash, click play on a song.

3. Songs starts, then spotify crashes.

  

What I expected to happen

Spotify to work.

 

What actually happened

It crashes at random time intervals.

I'm only able to start Spotify after I've restartet my mac. It then crashes after a variable amount of time and won't start again after that.

 

A more detailed description, using numbered steps

1. First I reinstalled, no success (was unable to start Spotify again)

2. Then I reinstalled Spotify deleting the mentioned library folders

3. starting Spotify was successful after that, but it crashed again after some time

4. Restarting Spotify not possible, symbol just bounces

  

What I expected to happen

Spotify to run flawlessly, like it always did

 

What actually happened

Spotify does not work properly

(doesn't start at all or crashes after a short amount of time)

I am quite disappointed. I've been told spotify is the best music player ever so I wanted to try it on my MacBook Pro.

Actually I wanted to use the Premium version but fortunately I started with the free one, because I can't use it.

It crashes all the time.

 

But I am more disappointed from the spotify team than from the app itself. This problem occured for the first time in Feb/Mar last year and it isn't fixed yet. Really rare information has been given from spotify team since then. Here are so many people posting a full problem-description and they are not able to fix it. I really want to give spotify a new chance and am waiting for an update. But if it will not come in time I am sry will look for a new player.

I am able to start the app. After searching for an interpret it crashes when choosing a song from the result list.

1. Starting the app (after using the zip-"installer")

2. Login with an email account

3. Using the search function

4. Getting a result list

5. Playing a song from the list

6. It crashes before the song plays the first tone

 

What I expected to happen:

no.

I tested spotify free because I wanted to use the premium function on my mobile phone.

This stuff does not work.

I don´t trust them anymore.

I am back to lastfm.

Hi everyone! Thanks for all your input as we investigate this for you. 

 

We've had our team on the case. Can any of you confirm whether or not it is working for you today? Try a clean reinstallation and opening the app again. 

 

If you're still having trouble let me know. I'll get this info into the right hands ASAP.

Description

I clean uninstalled Spotify, re-installed. Everything looks fine at first, it asks me to move the app to the applications folder (clicked yes), askes me to log in (I do so)... and then the icon disappears. Every time after I log in, it's just *poof* and the app is gone.

3. Launch app, enter correct login credentials

Spotify does not launch at all. Not even the bouncy icon thing anymore

@FenchelT - How did you get it to work?

 

The problem was solved for me until this morning. Now, again, Spotify just bounces and won't open. I have to force exit everytime.

 

It's already a major issue...

Today the app is working as well as yesterday.

For me, the problem seems to be solved.

 

I will come back to you late this evening to explain how I get it working, as I am on a birthday party right now.

Hi there,

 

First of all, I have to correct my first post. The Mac OS version I use is 10.8.2, not 10.7.4

 

So what did I do, to get it working?

 

1. Following the instructions metioned here: http://support.spotify.com/de/learn-more/faq/#/article/reinstallation-of-spotify/

 

2. Restart my MacBook Pro

 

3. Download and install the latest version of the app

 

4. Login with my Email Account

 

5. Listen music 🙂

SOLUTION

 

After many emails between a member of the support team and me, we found out, that re-installing Sportify AND re-installing Flash on Macbook are a valid solution.

 

First re-install Spotify following this steps:

http://support.spotify.com/learn-more/faq/#/article/reinstallation-of-spotify/ 

 

Afterwards delete Flash Player and re-install it through Safari, not with Chrome (if you use that).

 

Now, restart your Macbook and delete all files in trash basket. 

And NOW start Spotify, not earlier.

I'm using Mac OS X version 10.5.8.

 

I've tried to reinstall the application about 5 times, but it will only open once. After I reset my machine and open it again, I will just receive and error message that says Spotify has failed to launch.

I am currently experiencing the same problem on OSX 10.6.8. Clean install does not do the trick. Neither does the combination of flash player and spotify.

HI - I've been having the same problem for the last week since I clicked on "new version update" banner on the top of interface. Have uninstalled/reinstalled flash and Spotify  but now it wont even go through the installation completely so I'm unable to even get Spotify on my Mac now!

During installation of Spotify the icon bounces and bounces and bounces... and then crashes. I get a message telling me to re-download from Spotify... which I do and get the same problem... bounce bounce crash
