Add support for Google ChromeCast

Will you be adding support to the ChromeCast that Google announced today? Would be great to be able to easily stream music from all my devices to my receiver and tv.

Update: implementing ChromeCast is superior to using the Chrome browser plugin to move a tab with the Spotify web interface to your TV for multiple reasons. Most importantly:

 - You can stream higher fidelity

 - You can stream from every device, not only from a computer/laptop

 - You can control from multiple devices (so if I leave the room my wife can control Spotify with her phone)

If implemented correctly this would match the functionality of Sonos for a much lower price.

Update February 4th 2014: Okay, so Google has released the SDK now. Please start working on the functionality or at the very minimum give an update to the status...

Update February 19th 2014: 2,000 kudos, hundreds of replies (with more than a handful of cancelations). Apparently Spotify Germany has confirmed Chromecast support is coming. An update would be nice

Update March 24th 2014: 2,500 kudos and still no update. Cancelled my subscription today. Sorry, but if you don't listen to your paying customers we will have to speak with our wallets.

Interesting point Andrews32 but unfortunately the media attention surrounding Taylor Swift's removal of her music is more focused on the way they treat artists, not users. It would be great if Mashable or similar would pick up on this thread from a "How not to listen to your customers" perspective.

@jjfoshay no it does not ; it is adding additional network traffic to the systems instead of streaming only from the chromcast to the tv it will stream first from spotify to the pc and then to the chromecast thus double the bandwidth; this 'works' but is everything but a good way to do this.

Since Spotify isn't really supporting the community in enabling Chromecast support, I am happy to tell you that Spoticast is back in the Google Play Store as of yesterday! Spoticast has stopped me from leaving Spotify, but I still think you should offer native support to Chromecast.

Nice, but:

a) There's Screencast

b) Most contributors want the desktop application to include native Chromecast support

c) In my case, Spoticast only casts its still/logo and volume +/-, *no* sound! (even after a reboot)

Here's a good one... on the Gramofon website it quotes this:  "Streaming works like Google’s Chromecast"

UHHH... here's an idea, how bout supporting Google Chromecast then?  How utterly ridiculous, greedy, and downright dumb Spotify.  I have 3 subscriptions.  "Gramofon"?  Goofyfon....

Just cancelled Spotify Premium and went over to Play Music because of the lack of Chromecast support. =(

This is yet another thing that Play Music has/does better than Spotify. If I didn't have a student discount here, I'd be long gone.

I just cancelled my premium account since 3 years. Tomorrows music service is obviously not spotify.

This can't be that hard to do guys... Just get on with it already!! And if it is very hard to do for some reason then at least give us an update. Right now it looks like you just don't care.. 😕

I'd be really cool if Spoitfy inculdes this feature! It would be an very easy and awesime way to enjoy my favorite music on my TV!
