[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

I'm delighted to say Lossless is now rolling out. It will happen gradually, to more than 50 markets through October. Premium subscribers in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK have already started to get access.

Any plans on having it on Linux? Specifically flatpak?

when will it reach to india as of right now  other features like auto mix  dj haven't arrived also . So the question is will it come at all?

While we appreciate that this feature that already existed on many other platforms is finally available on Spotify, just when I was exporting my library to leave you guys and take my entire family with me. HOWEVER. I got an AN app full screen interstitial yesterday that this feature is finally available. Yet it does not show up, neither in my AN app nor on my Windows Desktop client. Why would you send me this marketing message if you haven't rolled it out to my account? I am a paying user. Can I ask that you speed up the rollout to cover me before some other people who do not care? This feature is only useful to less than 10% of your users. Why don't you have a shortlist available to top 1% of users who want it as soon as possible?

I must say that I have tried all the lossless apps from Amazon Music, Tidal Music, Qobuz, Deezer, and Roon. And Spotify feature wise kills them. I just recently did a fast A/B switching test with my two identical streamers. And really, the difference between Qobuz lossless and Spotify's lossy high quality is shockingly small. So I actually canceled my Qobuz, Tidal, Amazon and Apple subscriptions.

Can't wait to audition Spotify Lossless...

Bjornonline

Sweden here. Still waiting for my turn. One might think that someone (me) who got his account from a referral link weeks after the launch in the beginning of Spotify would somehow be prioritized, but no..  Glad it finally came, but would sure like to test it out to!

cromatox

Almost five years after the announcement, is it finally happening? I'm not sure how many more years we'll have to wait until the rollout is complete. I don't believe Spotify, at least not until I can listen to lossless music!

markbyrn

In the countries getting lossless, it seems like only a tiny fraction of users are actually getting the option. Is the rollout going to be over a period of days, weeks, months, or years?  I've had Spotify for over 10 years; are the chosen few who have lossless being randomly selected?

robigouk

It does say it's started rolling out but will be during October as well.  Hey we've waited this long I'm sure a few more weeks won't kill us (I'm in the UK and waiting like everybody else).

I'm about 2 years off from Spotify. First I was in apple as I had use LMS + Squeeze and AirPlay2 agent was good enough to same quality as Spotify will provide 🙂

Than I have to start using Roon + Tidal and stopped Apple Music subscription and now I have normal quality about 0.5 year upper than Spotify will provide in the feature as premium plus account. May be. Sometime.

No way to return. 🙂

Long term Australian user here. The roll-out has started. Accounts in my family plan got it. But not me the account holder.

The roll-out pattern seems hard for me to figure out. Any one knows what it might be? Or the suggestion is to wait till end of October and try and get Spotify support?
