[All Platforms][Your Library] Increase maximum Songs allowed in Your Music

I feel like the maximum amount of songs allowed in one playlist, and subsequently in "Songs" playlist under the new "Collections" feature, should be more than 10,000.

Quite frankly it should be unlimited.

We are paying for a service but limited on how many songs we are able to save? That is absurd to me.

I recently started saving all of my albums into "Collections" and got stuck at about 1/4 of the way through - 10,000 songs has been reached and I am no longer able to save any more albums.

PLEASE INCREASE MAX NUMBER OF SONGS IN COLLECTION FEATURE!!!

WHAT IS A COLLECTION IF YOU HAVE TO LIMIT YOUR TASTE???

Updated on 2020-05-26

Hey,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange.

We're excited to be marking this idea as implemented!
We've now removed the limit on saved items in Your Library, making it possible to save songs, and albums on Spotify to your heart's content.

As the app has changed quite a bit since this idea was submitted, please be aware that some functionality is now different. This change does not impact the limit on the number of songs in a playlist other than your Liked Songs.

For more info, check out this blog post.

I’m not there yet. But I’m more than halfway, and moving quick 😂

So bored of deleting older tunes just to add new ones. The 10k limit is a joke.

I left Spotify some time ago because of this issue, and find it hilarious that still nothing has happened...

Spotify have now lost around 150 bucks from me: I wonder how much cash they have lost by not fixing this, and delivering a service which virtually all of their competitors offer as standard. If it was that hard to do, then why can everyone else do it?

I was in the process of developing an app with the Spotify SDK for people with large libraries, but this is unbelievable. Only 10,000?! Maybe a limit is reasonable, but that low? Bump it up to at least 50,000.

I will have to cancel my subscription when I shortly hit the limit. I'll be looking for another platform to write my app for, too.

Hi @Qq0,

Maybe you could offer the user the option to create a library within the app, so a seperate library and then use your own storage.

Cheers,

René

Hey Rene01, I accept that as a possibility, but I hope you can see how inconvenient this is regardless. Would be better if the app just interfaced with Spotify - there are already music cataloguing apps. It's just a pity the limit's so low; it's the only issue I've had with this platform, but it's a big one for me in terms of personal use and also development.

Thanks

I just noticed that the ability to like a post has been returned. Honestly I'm not going to give Spotify credit. I mean if they do not have the technical know how, to allow us to have libraries over 10,000 tracks, then they probably also do not understand how to allow users to like posts. This change was probably only a programmers mistake.

These 1% of Spotify accouts are your power users and evangelists.  Respect these beasts.  Help them help Spotify be excellent.

Power users & evangelists. Please, get over yourself! In April 1989 - the German company Fraunhofer - Gesellhalt received a patent for the MP3. It is 30 years old, and the patent has expired. Spotify is using a dead technology. Deezer, Amazon Music,  Primephonic, Quobos, Apple Music, & Tidal all offer a better sound quality. The only comparably sounding service is YouTube music. Youtube!

Another thing to look at is that only Quobos, Primeophonic, and Amazon Music cataloges are smaller then Spotifies. About the only thing that sets Spotify apart are its  search features, interface, and free platform. I realize that this conversation is about the maximum songs allowed in a persons llibrary, but considering that simply awful sound quality of Spotifys stream, the tiny library to choose from, and the small number of songs allowed in your library, you would hope that they would throw there users a bone. Until they do, I will continue using there free service.

@gr33nmind You are so **bleep** well right!!! Apart from the fact of the compared to other streaming services really significantly poorer sound quality, it is very very sad to see what has become of Spotify in the last years. All the wonderful features that have made it (beside the giant catalgue of music) an excellent and outstanding music service have been removed. For me the most painful thing is, that at least in the PC version not even its artists and music can be sorted in some automated way (eg alphabetically) anymore. Spotify is apparently really not made from people who see  music as an important part of human cultur (but more than a consumer product)  for people who really love music ...
