[All Platforms] "Don't Like Button" should be added to all sections

Hello everyone,

I am not sure why it keeps changing between updates, although in the past Daily Mixes have the Like & Dislike button. But this time around it has been completely removed and is only available Under Your Weekly Discovery.

It would be nice if the "Don't Like Button" was added everywhere, from Weekly Discovery, Daily Mixes, even when searching specific songs, albums, genres etc. to better filter our music preferences.

Also I find on Android on the drop down menu the Don't like button rarely ever works and have to enter the app directly. Like always works perfectly fine.

I would appreciate it if this could be considered.

Thank you

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen!

We're happy to announce that the Hide Songs feature is now available on both mobile and desktop devices for Premium users.

Simply press the song's 3 dot menu and select Hide song. This can be done in any playlist made by Spotify or someone else, as well as albums. And any hidden tracks will no longer play from there.

Hidden songs will also sync between devices - no matter what device you're playing on. Unhiding a track can only be done through the mobile and desktop app, however.

You can also find more details about the feature here.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

Cheers!

Yes!  Disliking a song is such a basic essential feature.  Even if it's not right on the main "now playing" page it should be accessible somewhere!  Today (July 28 2025) I was trying to hide a song because I prefer not to listen to swearing and could not find the option anywhere on my app!

Mid 2025 and still this is an issue?

I find an artist I enjoy, go to the Spotify-made and/or artist-made "this is [artist]" playlist. Love most of the songs but of course there will be one or two I don't like.

What I (and from my searches on here and various interweb forums, MANY other users) intuitively understand "hide song in this playlist" to mean is that the song I apply it to will not be played in the playlist again from that point forward, any time I listen to that playlist.

The reality, though, is that the song is visually greyed out, but it still plays. Each time it does, I get increasingly irritated at the song and at Spotify for interrupting whatever I had been focused on.

Multiple people have brought up this issue through various iterations of the "hide song" button over many years. Forgive my ignorance of all the complicated technical issues involved, but it doesn't seem like a very hard problem. If it is, I would like to understand why. If I and so many others are still somehow just missing the intended functionality, please help us understand.

Cory Doctorow has an apt term for this sort of infuriating degradation in quality of a paid service which I cannot repeat here. I love love love Spotify for ad-free playback, music discovery, and, largely, for playlist curation - I've been a paid subscriber for a solid 7-8 years now. But with an ever-increasing number of seemingly basic issues compounding upon each other and an apparent refusal to effectively address them despite numerous requests from paying subscribers, I'm seriously considering finding a better service to migrate to which is not (yet) beholden to shareholder profit even at the cost of destroying the quality of the very service it claims to provide.

To any human Spotify employees in any department who may read this (or who may, by design, never be allowed to)... Please don't take it personally. I know it's a system failure larger even than Spotify, not the fault of any single department or person. Still, I must rage.

I see my "idea" has been merged here and buried under 66 pages of other complaints instead of actually being responded to. As I fully expected. Good job, Spotify.

I explicitly stated my issue (the "hide song" option does not, in fact, hide a song or stop it from playing). Spotify's response was to first bury my complaint and then trumpet the intended functionality of the "hide song" button instead of determining why it's not working for me.

Amazing news—thank you!

So am I reading this correctly. If I hide a song in a playlist it will hide it only in THAT playlist and it will still play in other playlists?

robigouk

Ok, so today on my Spotify's Throwback Thursday list - I picked and song and chose "Hide This Song" - however it still played it?

You can see it's playing in the bottom right window even though it's grayed out?

*WAIT - I've spotted a bug*.  Ok regarding my post above, if I've "switched to video" the hide song feature doesn't work, Spotify plays the hidden song.  If I'm not using video then the song is skipped as it should be!  Spotify - please fix this!

What's the point in hiding songs, if my recommendations look like this?

Yeah, I don't EVER listen to cello, violin, ambient or soundtrack, but I am consistently getting playlists FULL of these songs EVERY day. It got to a point where my daylists consist of hidden songs completely.

And yes, they arrive this way. Spotify creates playlists completely made of songs I hid previously. FOR MONTHS NOW.

The only way to fix this is to transfer my subscription to a completely new account, losing everything. But is there even a point in doing that? What if the app decides I need to listen to another random genre 24/7 on a new account?

You can't escape this. This is the worst service ever, this is a nightmare.

The funniest thing? The support says, "recommendations system works as intended".

It's indended to get a playlist made of hidden songs, folks.

why in the world would anybody say that providing the useless "hide" functionality is a solution to the feature request to "dislike" songs? I want Spotify to recommend fewer songs I don't like. Hiding doesn't help with this at all, I still see the songs. It should not display a disliked song anywhere ever again and the algorithm should learn that I don't like this type of song and stop recommended similar music
