Auto-delete played and/or downloaded podcast episodes

This suggestion has been posted before, but it needs to be suggested again until it is implemented.

There absolutely needs to be an option to delete played episodes from the episode list. Not everyone will use this, but many will, and it's considered basic functionality on other podcast software by now. The same option should exist for downloaded episodes.

If Spotify wants to compete with established podcast software, they need to at least match the basic feature set. This is not a "bells and whistles" kind of feature.

Hey folks,

Thanks for staying with us and waiting for the updates on this one.

Happy to let you know that this suggestion has been implemented 🙂

If you have trouble finding the feature, you can post in our Help Boards. And if you have any suggestions on how to improve it, you can post a new idea.

Cheers!

Could you please explain a bit exactly how does it work and/or is presented to the user or refer to the user guide?

I still don't see the option to automatically delete episodes that have been marked as played. I read this entire thread, and they said it's been implemented. What am I missing?!

I couldn’t figure out where this feature was for the longest time so I thought I’d share…

go to “Your episodes”, click the settings icon and there will be a setting called “Remove played episodes” and you can choose when it will remove them - options are after playing, 24hrs, 2days, 1 week

Can we please have an update?

Has there been an update yet?

It is so frustrating there isn't an auto delete button when you've played an episode. Where is Spotify at with this?

Thank you!

In case anyone is like the last two posters and doesn't read the previous comments, this feature HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED.

On your device, go to “Your episodes”, click the settings icon and there will be a setting called “Remove played episodes” and you can choose when it will remove them - options are: After playing, 24hrs, 2days, 1 week

  1. I’m an Australian user of the iOS app & cannot find “Your episodes” mentioned in the solution….Therefore can’t access the associated settings icon (or  Remove played episodes “ feature).
  2. What am I missing here? The version of Spotify I’m using is the latest version available on the App Store, downloaded 12 March 2024.

    Appreciate help resolving this!

Previous posts state this feature has been implemented. I cannot locate this feature anywhere on my PC or Android device. one post says the following:

""On your device, go to “Your episodes”, click the settings icon and there will be a setting called “Remove played episodes” and you can choose when it will remove them - options are: After playing, 24hrs, 2days, 1 week""

On my device, there is no "Your episodes" option. I've looked/clicked on everything & can't find the setting. Was this feature implemented on Android? or IOS only?

My phone is new. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Spotify app
