Spotify, when we finally wait for the HTML5 player?
I'm not going to install flash just for your service. And I used only the web version of Spotify. So I guess I have to delete my account now
C'mon, we're in 2016, why would ANY one even CONSIDER to use Flash into ANYTHING.
"Legal issues" is bs, i don't see Netflix using Flash due to DRM issues, then Spotify can very well do it too. I've been subscriber for a while as a Mobile user, but as a Web User i'm really considering paying for a platform using the proper technology for such issues.
A huge number of platforms do not support flash.
To Name a few:
GoogleTV
Android (and derivatives)
iOS
Apple TV
Opera TV (In many SMART TVs and BlueRay players)
Roku
XBox One
Windows Mobile
Wii U (Can be exported to, but can't run as "web app" Export is soft-compiled to intermediary JSASM-Like bytecode.)
NokiaOS (Yes it still exists)
WebOS (Yes, this one too, but the open source varient is more active.)
I'm sure I am missing a few
Currently most browsers will be turning off flash by default by the end of this year, prompting users to enable it per site on any site that isn't already on their whitelist.
Even Adobe considers Flash Plugin to be depricated, encouraging users to use HTML5/JavaScript export
For CDM and Encrypted Media, you can use the HTML5-EME extensions and/or Media Source Extensions with JSASM.
There are several platforms for this, but generally they are similar. Currently Chromium and Gecko based browsers have widespread support for both Google WebVine CDM and Adobe PrimeTime CDM on most major platforms. It is not difficult to adapt other CDM methods to EME extensions either, although you need to create separate plugins using Chrome/Chromium NaCL/PAPPI and Firefox/Gecko GMP API
I understand that there is an issue with securing that content using a base html5 set up but that can be addressed. The issue is that flash is now not running in all the browsers. It also crashes all the time as in more than 5 times everyday and that is damning as a user experience. I got to say I hate that my web player is crashing because they are using outdated tech. As a mobile and web dev I can sympathize with you on needing to change your whole structure to accomodate this change but it needs to happen. Yes there are other guys who stream music without running flash and you guys should too. Even if there weren't you guys whould be building it because of the fact that it breaks all the time due to a codebase that you guys don't control.
Spotify,
Please, make your WebPlayer on HTML5 available. I've been trying to use on my computer at work but it constantly freezes and overload my computer due the flash plug-in, which I think it's unecessary for the most things that I do. I used to use it on Youtube but since it has started using HTML5, I don't see any further need, except for the Spotify.
It'd allow the computers run the webplayer way faster. It also supports encrypted audio stream, so the concern with the copyright wouldn't be a problem.
Kindly, listen your users.

Yeah this is overdue...
Any update Spotify? Could you hire a few interns to get this done?
Spotify is running out of time.
Firefox plans to drop support for Flash in March 2017 and Chrome with Update 55 later this year. Even Adobe doesn't think people should use Flash any longer.
Flash is now out-dated. When will we have an HTML5 player ? I can(t use Falsh in my job for security reasons.
We are waiting for html5, and paying for the service!!

Hey everyone! We can confirm this very popular idea is now fully implemented. The new Web Player uses HTML5 technologies solely. Thanks for your continued feedback in the Idea Exchange!
